Petaluma police search for TV thief

A man walked out of a Petaluma store on Sunday with a flat-screen television he didn't pay for, police officials said.

Police released three photos of the suspected burglar captured by surveillance cameras at the North McDowell Boulevard Kmart store, hoping the public might identify him.

The man slipped into a back storage area, grabbed a television and walked back out the main door at about 8:30 a.m. Sunday carrying a 32-inch Seiki high-definition flat-screen television, Lt. Tim Lyons said.

The unit is worth about $250, Lyons said.

The surveillance images were taken in a back hallway for employees, Lyons said. The man appeared to be white and in his late 20s or early 30s, he said.

Anyone with information about the case can call the Police Department at 778-4372 or the crime tip hotline at 781-1200.
