Piner High School student threatened others with knife, police say
Piner High School administrators ordered students to shelter in place Thursday while police investigated a 15-year-old boy, who’d been accused of threatening classmates with a knife.
No knife was discovered, however, investigators believe the boy had one on Tuesday, according to the Santa Rosa Police Department.
He was issued a citation for having a weapon on campus and then turned over to his parents.
An investigation began about 11:50 a.m. Thursday when police received reports of a student brandishing a knife.
Police said an argument among students occurred in the school’s library and the 15-year-old threatened other students with a knife.
He left campus after the altercation and students across campus sheltered in place during the investigation, officials said in a news release.
According to police, the student returned to campus shortly after his brief departure and was interviewed by investigators and school staff.
The shelter-in-place order was lifted and no injuries were reported.
Officials concluded a knife had already been confiscated on Tuesday. None of the witnesses saw a knife Thursday, but believed the suspect had one in his sweatshirt pocket.
“The other students said they thought they saw something ‘black or silver’ in the 15-year-old’s pocket. The students’ feared he was going to come after them with it,” police wrote in a Facebook post.
