CONCORD - Concord police say a person dressed in a clown suit tried to abduct an infant.

KTVU-TV reports (http://bit.ly/2cUMCfW) that Concord Police Cpl. Chris Blakely says a woman was standing with her 1-year-old daughter Wednesday when she says a man in a clown suit approached her and attempted to take her baby.

Blakely says the man engaged in a brief conversation then suddenly yanked the girl's arm in an apparent kidnapping attempt. The girl's mother reportedly kicked the clown in the shin and he ran away.

The report joins a growing number of incidents involving clowns in the Bay Area. Antioch police were to a middle school Tuesday on a report of posts saying clowns were going to shoot at the school and Burlingame police have investigated similar threats.

Police say the threats have been hoaxes.
