A Rohnert Park man was arrested Wednesday after crashing his car into a police cruiser during a chase, authorities said.

Peter Sullivan, 38, of Rohnert Park, fled after an officer tried to pull him over on Roberts Lake Road for going 65 mph in a 35 mph zone, Rohnert Park police said in a statement. During the chase, Roberts nearly collided with another police cruiser making an unrelated traffic stop before entering the Home Depot parking lot on Redwood Drive, police said.

As officers followed his gray Toyota into the parking lot, he collided with a patrol cruiser while trying to pull through a handicap parking space, at which point his car broke down, police said. He was arrested on suspicion of reckless driving, evading police and drug possession.

Sullivan did not appear to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs during the chase, but he did have illegal drugs in the car, police said. He was not injured, but an officer suffered minor injuries and was treated at the hospital and released.
