Rohnert Park man in critical condition after crash
A Rohnert Park man seriously injured in a crash Sunday night remained in critical condition Monday.
Devante Harris, 20, was driving east on Golf Course Drive in Rohnert Park when he lost control of his car on a curve near Hacienda Circle around 7:30 p.m., police said. His 2009 Toyota Corolla slid, spun, traveled up onto the median and hit a tree near Halcyon Place. The impact crushed the car’s passenger side.
A witness told officers Harris had been passing several cars while going about 50 mph in a 35-mph zone. Police said the road was slick due to heavy rainfall.
Harris wasn’t wearing a seat belt, police said. Officers and firefighters, aided by passers-by who stopped to help, got the man out of the car and started medical aid. He was taken by ambulance to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital, where he was listed in critical condition Monday, a hospital spokeswoman said.
Rohnert Park police crash investigators are looking into the speed and other factors. Anyone with information should contact Officer Justin Thompson at 707-584-2600, or email Traffic@rpcity.org.
