Sebastopol police will be at Analy High School this week after ‘not credible’ threats

Sebastopol police will be stationed on Analy High School’s campus Monday — and through the rest of the week — in response to warnings of possible violence made against the school.

In an announcement posted Sunday on the department’s official Facebook page, police Chief Ron Nelson said the decision to place officers at the school was made even though officials believe the threats are “not credible.”

He said police presence will “ensure the safety of the school, staff and students.”

At about 1 p.m. Saturday, the department received information about “possible threats” of “gun and other violence made toward Analy High Shool, staff and students,” Nelson said.

He added that interviews of school staff, parents and students were conducted as part of an investigation into the threats, which were ultimately not to be believed.

Nevertheless, Nelson said, “We take all threats seriously and perform thorough investigations. If there is any additional information regarding these threats, the school and the public will be notified.”
