The True Black History Museum includes over 1,000 artifacts and documents from major historical figures dating from the late 1700s to the 21st century. Its aim is to preserve the history of African American people and educate others about their many contributions to the nation and world.

The one-day show at SSU, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., included video displays on luminaries including scientist and inventor George Washington Carver to tables about trailblazing artists such as Aretha Franklin and Snoop Dogg. Also highlighted were the acclaimed Tuskegee Airmen of World War II and pivotal political movements and moments led by African Americans.
