Men's basketball: Stanford upsets USC; Cal remains winless in Pac-12

KZ Okpala scored 18 points to lead the Cardinal (13-11, 6-6 Pac-12), who have won four of its past five.

Marcus Sheffield came off the bench and scored 16 points. Josh Sharma added 14 points and had nine rebounds.

Bernie Boatwright scored 19 points to lead the Trojans (13-12, 6-6), who lost at Stanford for a fifth straight time. Nick Rakocevic scored 15 points and had 11 rebounds.

Wills hit a layup with 14 seconds remaining to put Stanford ahead 77-76. He missed an ensuing free throw and USC called time to step up a play.

Boatwright missed a jumper and Wills grabbed the rebound.

Marcus Sheffield hit a 3-pointer to bring the Cardinal within 76-75 and Sharma made a key steal at the other end.

Stanford took its first lead of the game with 12:02 remaining to play when Sharma sank a short jumper for a 52-51 advantage.

Seven lead changes and four ties later, USC took a 74-72 lead on a short jumper Derryck Duncan.

Kevin Porter Jr. scored 10 points in the early going and the Trojans took a 40-35 lead into halftime.

UCLA 75, CAL 67

Chris Wilkes had 27 points and 10 rebounds, Jaylen Hands made six free throws in overtime and UCLA overcame a sloppy first half to beat host Cal.

David Singleton added 12 points on four 3-pointers and Hands scored 12 for the Bruins (13-12, 6-6 Pac-12). UCLA had lost three straight and six of eight before rallying from nine points down to complete a season sweep of Cal.

Darius McNeill scored 18 points and Justice Sueing added 15 points and seven rebounds for the Golden Bears (5-19, 0-12). Cal remains winless in the conference and has dropped 13 straight.

The Bruins made only one basket in overtime but pulled away at the free-throw line while outscoring the Bear 11-3 in the extra period.

Hands, who shot 2 of 10 from the floor, led the surge of free throws by making all six he attempted in overtime. Wilkes added two and Moses Brown had one. Chris Smith made UCLA's only basket in overtime.

It's only the second time this season that the Bruins have won after trailing at halftime.
