Direct shipments from U.S. wineries to consumers grew last year by 13.6 percent to a total of 47.4 million bottles, according to a report released Thursday.

The report, released by Web vendor ShipCompliant and trade publication Wines & Vines, also found the average price per bottle of shipped wine increased by 1.6 percent in 2014 over the prior year to an average price of $38.40.

Napa Valley wines led all direct shipments with more than $882 million in sales. The average price of a shipped bottle of Napa cabernet sauvignon was $88.45.
