Santa Rosa DUI checkpoint this Friday night

Santa Rosa police will hold a DUI checkpoint in the city tonight. Law enforcement officers will stop drivers to check for alcohol and drug impairment as well as valid licenses, police said. It will run from 7 p.m. tonight to 3 a.m. Saturday.

Checkpoints are held periodically throughout the year in Sonoma County as a way to reduce the number of DUI drivers on local streets and highways, police said. Law enforcement agencies typically don’t reveal ahead of time the location of a checkpoint, which they pick based on the incidence of crashes and other driving issues.
