Power was restored to thousands of homes and businesses in Rohnert Park early Tuesday morning following an overnight outage unrelated to PG&E’s proactive power shut offs, the utility said.

Power failed about 9:40 p.m. Monday and affected roughly 6,700 customers at the peak of the outage, PG&E spokeswoman Deanna Contreras said.

The majority were concentrated in Rohnert Park, where about 4,863 customers lost power just east of Highway 101 soon after the outage, PG&E spokeswoman Karly Hernandez said Monday night.

The outage also affected about 1,360 customers in Santa Rosa, Hernandez said.

Power was restored in both areas by 4:30 a.m. Tuesday, though crews were still investigating the cause of the outage hours later, Contreras said. The source of the outage happened near happened near Snyder Lane in Rohnert Park, she added.

The power outage was not related to the power shut offs PG&E was conducting elsewhere in Northern California, Contreras said.
