Expect cold but no snowfall in Lake Tahoe this weekend

Temperature highs in Lake Tahoe this weekend are predicted in the mid-to-low 30's.|

Skiers and snowboarders rejoice-a monster storm means a fresh coat of powder.

Last week's atmospheric river, which dumped several inches of snow across the region, should provide ideal conditions for skiers to hit the slopes and enjoy a fresh pack of snow this weekend.

Low temperatures means the snow will stay on the ground, but no more is expected to fall this weekend. It will be mostly cloudy this weekend, and on Saturday the high is 35 degrees with a low of 22 degrees. On Sunday it will be just barely warmer, with a high of 37 degrees and a low of 27 degrees.

It's been especially snowy this month. Squaw Valley has received 20.5 feet of snow since the beginning of February, easily the snowiest February on record, according to Squaw Valley's public relations coordinator.

It's the first time this month there aren't any snowstorms, so drive to Tahoe should be much smoother than it has been, when whiteout conditions closed I-80 last weekend.

According to the California Department of Water Resources, this year's snowfall is well above average, so you can expect white slopes well into April.
