Fire damages northwest Santa Rosa home

Damage to the Moonlight Way home was estimated at about $125,000, fire officials said.|

A northwest Santa Rosa house caught fire Monday afternoon, sustaining moderate smoke damage before firefighters extinguished the blaze.

The fire was reported at 2:17 p.m. on Moonlight Way, the Santa Rosa Fire Department said.

Firefighters responded within five minutes and contained the blaze within 20 minutes, according to a news release.

The family and two large dogs that lived in the home were unscathed, fire officials said.

Damage to the home was estimated at about $125,000.

The blaze appeared to be accidental, and its cause was still under investigation, the Santa Rosa Fire Department said.

Twenty-one fire personnel responded, according to the news release. Rincon Valley firefighters also responded, as did the Red Cross and PG&E.
