Petaluma area man displaced by trailer fire

The resident was asleep when the fire started about 3:45 p.m.|

Fire destroyed a travel trailer at a rural property west of Petaluma Friday, displacing the man who lived there, Rancho Adobe Fire Protection District officials said.

The resident, who wasn’t identified, was asleep when the fire broke out about 3:45 p.m. in the 18-foot trailer, which was parked at a property on Queens Lane west of King Road, engineer Brian Sweet said.

While the man briefly tried to put it out, a neighbor called 911.

The fire burned the trailer and all of its contents, and also burned vegetation in the immediate area of the vehicle before firefighters extinguished the blaze. Red Cross volunteers were assisting the man, Sweet said.

Investigators are looking into the cause of the fire, which may have been electrical, Sweet said.
