A Clearlake Park man has been arrested on suspicion of murder, attempted murder and assault with a firearm in connection with a Wednesday night shooting that killed one person and wounded another near Middletown.

Javier Martinez Cachu, 20, was booked into the Lake County jail, where he’s being held on $1 million bail, according to jail booking records.

The man killed was Luis Pimentel Arroyo, 25, of Middletown, said sheriff’s spokesman Lt. Steve Brooks.

The name of a woman who was wounded during the shooting is not being released at this time, he said.

The shooting was first reported at about 8:30 p.m., according to Cal Fire.

The victims were inside a parked vehicle when they were shot, Brooks said.

Martinez Cachu left the scene, but later in the evening turned himself in at the Clearlake Police Department, Brooks said.

He released no other details about the shooting, saying the circumstances, including the motive, remain under investigation.

The CHP closed Butts Canyon Road to the Napa County line for several hours while a search was underway for the suspect and the crime scene was being investigated, the CHP said.

Additional information is not expected to be available until next week.
