A Sonoma County sheriff’s SWAT team and Rohnert Park police on Saturday arrested a Santa Rosa man on suspicion of making criminal threats to the mother of his daughter, including texting her a photo of him pointing a handgun at the camera.

The man, 34-year-old Jonathan Galvez, is a convicted felon and thus prohibited from owning firearms, Rohnert Park police said in a press release.

About 5:40 a.m. Saturday the mother, a Rohnert Park resident, reported the threats against her and her husband as part of a custody dispute with Galvez. Police soon obtained an emergency protective order and an arrest warrant against Galvez, plus a search warrant for his home in the 4000 block of Santa Rosa’s Sebastopol Road.

About 2:45 p.m. the SWAT team arrived at Galvez’s home and Galvez surrendered. During a search, “ammunition for the gun Galvez was seen holding in the photo was located but the gun was not,” the release stated.

Galvez was booked in the county jail on $250,000 bail.
