Downed tree limb, power lines shut down Highway 116 in Forestville

A downed tree branch and power lines closed Highway 116 just south of Forestville Monday, with the road estimated to reopen Tuesday morning.

PG&E shut off power to 164 customers in the area because of the downed lines.

The downed branch was reported to authorities about 10:20 a.m. Monday. When authorities arrived to clear the branch, they realized it was too large and required a Cal Trans crew to cut it up before the stretch of highway could be reopened, CHP Officer Danny Alconcel said.

Traffic was being diverted between Packing House Road to the north and Guerneville Road to the south.
