A 23-year-old man suffered major injuries after he lost control of his SUV and collided head-on with a pole southwest of Sonoma, the CHP said.

Albert Lemaire of Sonoma was taken to Queen of the Valley Hospital after Friday’s 11:25 p.m. crash. He later was taken to an out-of-county hospital due to his serious injuries. Further information wasn’t available early Monday.

Lemaire was driving above the 55 mph speed limit as he traveled west on rural Leveroni Road, where he then ran a red light at the Arnold Drive intersection, CHP said. His 2004 Honda CR-V ran off the roadway and into the pole. He wasn’t wearing a seat belt, CHP said.

Alcohol or drugs didn’t appear to be a factor, CHP said.
