Sebastopol police arrested a 19-year-old man last week for suspected possession of an unregistered rifle after he allegedly brandished the weapon at two Analy High School students, while they waited to be picked up in front of the campus after school.

Officers found Esgar Cabrera Salcedo Wednesday night in the 7700 block of Bodega Avenue after a friend requested they perform a welfare check based on text messages he sent about a gun. An earlier search for a suspect or the car described in the incident at the high school campus was unsuccessful.

Cabrera Salcedo admitted to being at Analy High that day looking for a specific individual following a recent argument, but denied wanting to hurt anyone, police said. The owner of a silver Nissan sedan suspected in the incident allowed officers to search the vehicle, where they found an AR-15 semi-automatic rifle loaded with a high-capacity magazine, as well as handcuffs and a mask.

Cabrera Salcedo was arrested on several firearm-related counts and booked into Sonoma County Jail.
